Graduate Development Programme: From Campus to Industrial Terminal R&D
Moving from campus into industrial terminal R&D usually takes time: graduates need to understand both the product and the process. We have designed a staged development programme to help new colleagues shift from course-based thinking to product-based thinking.
The first stage is orientation, lasting about a month. It covers the company profile and culture, product line knowledge, the R&D and manufacturing process, quality system fundamentals and customer service standards. Visits to the R&D and production areas are arranged so that new colleagues first build an intuitive understanding of a finished terminal.
The second stage is practice and rotation, lasting roughly three to six months. New colleagues take up their primary role while spending short periods in adjacent functions. Someone in hardware, for example, will work alongside structure, software and production to see how their design behaves downstream; someone in software will take part in driver debugging and system integration validation. The purpose of rotation is to make the input-output relationships between stages explicit and reduce information loss in later collaboration.
The third stage is hands-on project work, where new colleagues own specific modules under a mentor. Mentors are engineers with years of project experience and are responsible for technical guidance, periodic reviews and stage feedback. Assessments are scheduled by stage, and they look not only at completion but also at whether problems are described clearly and verification is thorough.
On career development, we offer two directions: technical and managerial. On the technical track, colleagues can progress from assistant engineer to engineer, senior engineer and technical expert. Those interested in solution design and product work can also move into product and solutions roles. Through this programme we aim to help graduates build reliable technical judgement in real industrial terminal projects.
