Hiring: Structural Engineer (Rugged Terminals)
Location: Shenzhen
Responsibilities
1. Own mechanical design for industrial tablets and handheld terminals, producing 3D models, assembly designs and 2D drawings.
2. Design and validate ruggedisation schemes for dust, water and drop resistance, including sealing structures, shock absorption, and protection for keys and interfaces.
3. Work with hardware engineers on unit stacking, coordinating the spatial relationships and thermal paths among display, mainboard, battery and expansion modules.
4. Participate in tooling reviews and trial moulding, drive structural improvements and take part in mock-up and prototype assembly validation.
5. Handle structural anomalies in volume production, propose and follow through on improvements, and take part in technical discussions with suppliers.
Requirements
1. Bachelor's degree or above in mechanical design, materials forming or a related field.
2. Proficient with Creo, SolidWorks or similar 3D design software, with full capability in structural design and drawing.
3. Familiar with plastic part design and injection moulding processes, and with common engineering plastics and surface treatment methods.
4. Experience in handheld terminals, industrial tablets or rugged products is an advantage.
5. Familiar with basic reliability test requirements such as drop, vibration and ingress protection testing.
6. Good communication skills and able to collaborate effectively with hardware, process, tooling and supplier teams.
